My name is Babajide Ogunbiyi. During my professional football career, I spent 8 years playing in Denmark. Before arriving in Denmark, I graduated from Santa Clara University (United States) with a bachelor’s degree in Finance. While obtaining my degree at Santa Clara, I was a member of the university’s division one soccer program. In the United States, youth players use this time to develop themselves academically and athletically in an attempt to become professionals in the future.

The demands of a division one program give a glimpse into what would be required to succeed as a professional athlete. My experience with playing at the university level allowed me the time to develop as a person and to truly decide whether or not pursuing a professional football career was the right option for me. At the same time, I was able to obtain a degree in finance that will be valuable to me for the rest of my life. In hindsight, my decision to attend university, and play football, before beginning my professional career, was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. It opened up numerous professional opportunities for me, both athletically and academically.

Mathias Thomsen played in Denmark for all of his youth career and then moved to the United States to play in College.

Mathias started his youth career at SønderjyskE and player there until the age of 17. At 17, he moved to Esbjerg and played for their U-19 team for the rest of his youth career.

After finishing youth football and gymnasium in Denmark, he made a big decision and decided to continue his football career and studies in the United States. During his time in the US, he played for two different schools. He started his collegiate career playing for Lindsey Wilson College at the NAIA level. At Lindsey he had great success. When he arrived, the soccer team was ranked 16th in the nation. He played for a great team that included players from all over the world. After one year at Lindsey Wilson he chose to transfer to another school to experience other parts of the country. He found his way to Azusa Pacific University in Los Angeles, California. Azusa Pacific plays at the NCAA division 2 level. After a season at Azusa Pacific, Mathias decided to return to Denmark and complete his education.

Academics have always been very important for Mathias. He was just as driven in the classroom as he was on the football pitch. The effort he put into his studies helped him during his time in the US and also turned out to be important in helping him when he returned to Denmark. At college in the US he received a substantial academic scholarship for his efforts in the classroom. After coming home to Denmark he used his education from the US to get accepted to one the most prestigious schools in Demark. He is currently studying at the International Business program at Copenhagen Business School. Without his education in the US he would not have been accepted into this program.

BABAJIDE

Originally from Rochester New York, Babajide spent 8 years playing professionally in Denmark. His career included stints with Viborg F.F, Vendsyssel F.F and Hobro IK. Before arriving in Denmark, he graduated from Santa Clara University (United States) with a bachelor’s degree in Finance. While obtaining his degree at Santa Clara, he was a member of the university’s division one soccer program.

After his collegiate career came to an end, he was drafted 18th overall in the MLS super draft to the New York Red bull. Instead of signing with the Red bull, he decided to take his chances in Europe. Immediately after his playing career in Denmark came to an end, he established GPE to help youth players around the world find other avenues to reach their dreams of playing professional football. In addition to establishing this company, he is also a licensed UEFA coach. With his experience at every level of the game, he holds all of the knowledge necessary to guide young players who are looking to reach the highest level of soccer.

Emil Furcht

Originally from St. Paul Minnesota, Emil played under 18s at Malmo FF in Sweden and professionally in the United States and Scandinavia. He has experience coaching youth in the US as well as the U17,U20 and Senior levels for Men and Women in Finland. Most recently Emil has worked as an agent focusing on the North American and Nordic Markets. He has completed over 200 transactions in order to help players realize their dreams of playing professional soccer.

Emil holds a master’s degree in Economics from the University of Vaasa, in Finland and a bachelor’s degree in Business and theology from University of Northwestern St. Paul, where he was an NAIA all-american. Emil brings a unique expertise to the company having played NCAA Division 1 and NAIA soccer, as well as advising numerous players on their college and career decisions.

Mike Keeney

Mike brings a wealth of coaching experience to GPE. At the professional level, Mike has coached in Europa League qualifiers with Finnish clubs Kuopion Palloseura and MyPa. Additionally, Mike had stints coaching in Slovakia and worked for Oceana Football Federation as the technical director for Papua New Guinea Football Association. Mike also holds a UEFA pro coaching license. Prior to his time abroad, he coached with Division one programs Louisville, Kentucky and Alabama Birmingham.

Mike has a great network with college coaches and in depth knowledge of college soccer. He understands what is necessary for international players to succeed at the college level and what they need to do to prepare themselves.
